Synopsis

Since childhood, Wu Li had been neglected by her father and stepmother. As an adult, she chose Wen Yancí as her personal bodyguard. Gradually, Ruan Wu Li developed feelings for him and pursued him relentlessly, yet Wen Yancí remained unmoved. Ruan Wuli accidentally discovered that Wen Yancí had actually come for his stepsister, and that his true identity was the heir apparent of the Wen family. Enraged, Ruan Wuli chose to marry the comatose Xie Yunchuan. By the time Wen Yancí realized he had mistaken her for someone else, it was already too late.

The drama is a rollercoaster of frustration and absurdity. Early episodes are downright infuriating—misidentifying the true love, whipping the heroine nearly a hundred times, failing to protect her as a bodyguard, and constantly bringing up the second female lead just to provoke her. The male lead’s character feels like a total train wreck: pathetic to the point of comedy, sometimes mean-spirited, sometimes just nonsensical. Even his one so-called “redeeming” moment—drinking poison to force the heroine to stay—only highlights how twisted the writing is. Viewers joked about his lack of eyelashes fluttering, his unhealthy look, and his ridiculous behavior. The heroine has her moments of sharp comebacks, but it’s hardly enough to balance out such a messy, over-the-top storyline.
